I've found the exact twin to the 1968 Western Flyer Custom Buzz Bike F5 I had as a kid, and need as much info as I can get to restore it. I'm awaiting for FedEx to drop it off any day now! I still have the original hang tag (actually an envelope) and license from my first one. It's a 5-speed muscle bike, with dual caliper brakes, silver sparkle banana seat, blah, blah, blah... I need to know if there are such things as paint chip charts, such as those used for automobiles. I have heard the color of my bike is Flamboyant Raspberry. I remember my Dad telling me the man at the Western Auto store mentioning it was raspberry. Was this a candy paint, and, if so, did it have a silver base? Also, did WF Buzz Bike F5's only come in this color? I know this is really a Murray F5 Eliminator in disguise, so any parts I need shouldn't be too hard to find, right (I know I'll be needing a front fender...)? Whatever info you may have regarding what brand of tires it came with, original/repop parts, pics and ads would be a great help! Thanks! Warren in CA

You are correct on the color.Ron might have a chain guard with a decent screen still on it if yours needs one. Front fenders are the easier one to find. The rear fender is a whole different story. The only one that I remember were Flamboyant Raspberry with the same color seat with sparkles. Yes, it was a candi(transparent) color over a silver base. Tires were likely Paragon or Bridgestone. Be sure to post the serial number so we can decode it for you once you get it. Kenny.

My original bike (and the one I'm waiting for...) though, both have silver sparkle seats. Paragon or Bridgestone? If I could get my memory to work REAL hard, I could probably remember, since I hand-painted the letters in white (for that "raised white-letter" look), sometime around 1969-1971. I'll be glad to post BOTH serial #'s, since I still have the original info on my first F5. An interesting observation (I think...) - In the pics I received of the F5 I'm waiting for, the color under the chipped areas appears to be blue, like a single-speed Buzz Bike. Maybe this is a factory re-paint? Warren

I'm not sure exactly of what I may need yet (except for the front fender-the brace is missing), but from the pics I was sent, it appears the shifter is complete. I need to know what the thread size is for the bolts/screws which attach the sissy bar/fender brace to the frame. Also looks like front/rear fenders will be needed and possibly a new crank, since the end on the left side hits the kickstand, and appears it's been this way for quite a while.There are wear marks on the stand itself from the crank hitting it. (Rats!). The serial number is M07280X10535276. Thanks! Warren

My WF has a silver-sparkle seat with matching pedals, Chrome gear guard (instead of the clear plastic shown), WF handle grips and blackwalls instead of whitewalls. One thing I KNOW I remember from my first F5, was that it had clear reflectors on the front forks. This F5 obviously doesn't, but that's about the only thing I can really see that's different. The rotten ol' tires are a Bridgestone up front and a Uniroyal slick at the rear. From the factory, were Paragons and Bridgestones mixed, or was it on or the other? I do remember having a Paragon knobby on the rear (are THOSE available?...). I reassembled the F5, and have done nothing to it so far. Still taking notes on what is/isn't correct.
