Could this be the patent art for the "Bike Mag" manufactured by the Sport Wheel Specialty Company of Wichita Kansas? Sure looks similar.

Wow! 1965!
Two items I see there that are noteworthy to history of our bikes. 1. The forged steel goose neck stem! Its Wald in 1965 but as we all know it looks like a Schwinn neck, did Schwinn buy those from Wald? 2. The Pogo seat Post, never showed on a Schwinn until 1968 right? Cool stuff!

I believe the goose necks are different. The ones on my 65 Wildcat and the one on the 65 Huffy TBird have a ridge that run up the top unlike the Schwinn
gooseneck.

Yeah, but are the stems on the T bird and the Wildcat the stems pictured above? I saw another similar one in another catalog. I also know Schwinn had a few
different styles, I wonder why you don;t see the Wald version very often?

John this is the stem I was referring to. It looks a lot like a Schwinn stem, not the handle bars. I was wondering if Wald
copied it from Schwinn, or ??? Maybe they made them for Schwinn early on?

Guess that is why the Weinmann brake calipers started saying Schwinn approved instead of made by Schwinn. It would be cool be
able to break down what Schwinn actually made for their High Rise bikes and compare it to a list of what they did no make in house.

This would be an interesting question to ask at the S forums. What components on Schwinn bikes were actually made by Schwinn, Frames yes, Rims? Good
question. Probably everything other than the frame, fork and rims was farmed out.

Many Schwinn guys do not like questions like this for some reason. If we ask this question we will look like we are starting
trouble again. Even though we really would like to know. I am pretty sure they made their own hoops, the spokes and hubs were from other suppliers.
I may start a thread over there.
What is "Schwinn Approved" really?

I think a lot of the Schwinn guys will want to know this info too, I think your right that many would not like to discuss the fact that Schwinn shared
component suppliers with many other bike companies. You had a good core group of American suppliers whose parts wound up on a variety of different brands.
