What kind of seat is it. Can the cover come off easily? The best way would be to glue a patch on the back side of the material with spray adhesive. Other than
that I have not found a good way. I actually repaired some car seats like that and they help up fine. Good luck
Maybe someone else has a better idea. |

You can buy a vinyl seat repair kit at Auto Zone or a auto parts store, and it can make it look really close to perfect if you
take your time. The main thing is to keep it from spreading.
I sometimes use a vinyl glue and dab it on the tear and then wrap electrical tape over it really tight for about 24 hours, when you remove the tape it is barely noticeable in most cases.

I've always wondered if automotive upholstery shops could do it? I'm sure they have methods to repair car seats, so maybe this is a possibility too?

I am sure a car shop could do it. I bet in this economy they would appreciate any business at all.

old thread but here is my input - as a professional upholsterer.
we'd just glue it - find a close as can patch for the backside, then use a good vinyl glue behind the rip, closing it up best you can with some tape ( not scotch or similar, it will melt ). then clean up residue as needed, redie if it shows, to blend in . Now, what I AM curious about is what you guys are using to paint the stripes on seats, vinyl die ? or regular paint - I'd think either would flake off in time, escpecially over flake ( smooth ) vinyl . I had some flake vinly, need to see if I can score some old stock for my bikes, new way to apply my work to my hobbies ;) ~ AL |

Now, what I AM curious about is what you guys are using to paint the stripes on seats, vinyl die ? or regular paint - I'd think either would flake off in time, especially over flake ( smooth ) vinyl . Leatherique has bin in the biz awhile & is what all the pros use. They sample match any color & make a iron clad, non pealing bond, even on seats. You can also get perfect results with cheap vinyl repair kits that allow you to color match your own batch & include various patterned leather grained shield sheets where a heat iron is applied to activate the liquid vinyl making an invisible patch. Your soldering iron may have come with some wide bits, a straight one for melt cutting & a bent one for flat ironing http://cgi.ebay.com/15-PC...&hash=item3364c2e80b |
