Only 1 known to Exist!! (NOS 71 Twin Stick 5 with Factory Mag Wheel)
-
Here's a few pictures I wanted to share of a very kool old muscle bike I picked up this past summer while on vacation. I didn't know to much about it until I called a very good friend of mine who is an expert in the aftermarket bicycle hobby. He told me how rare and unique this nos 1971 Huffy Twin Stick 5 muscle bike really was and not to leave without it under any cirumstances whatsoever!! LOL The bike was obtained from a sales rep who lived in Portland IN back in the day who worked for a company called Sheller Globe! They sold prototype steering wheels to Ford Motor Co and other manufactures! They also supplied them groovy metal flake steering wheels to the Huffman Manufacturing Company who made the Huffy Wheel Bikes. The sales rep who was 90 years old passed away three years ago from heart complications! The old man had access into the Huffy plant in Celina IN which is only 30 miles from Portland IN. He got the bikes in the early 70s and they sat around all them years. The reason the Twin Stick 5 with the rear mag wheel is so rare, because It's the only one known to have surfaced that we know of in the past 25 years in the muscle bicycle collecting world. Some collectors thought the bike was just a prototype and never existed because none were ever found! All they ever saw was the one picture in the Huffy 71 sales catalog! The bike appears to have never been ridden! It still has the center beads going down the middle of the tires and there is no chain wear whatsoever on the rear 5 spd cog. The other bike I found along with the Twin stick was an original 1969 red 3 spd Huffy Wheel III in great conditon. I will post some pictures of The Wheel III bike as well. Hope you enjoy the pictures of this rare and special Huffy muscle machine!! JC
