If you ever want to (or need to) sell the Ram Rod, keep me in mind. It's the only chopper variation I need to complete my collection. That bike would look nice included in this lineup.

The Ram Rod's looking great Lenny. You had to add the rear fender and paint match it, right?

OK, after literally having to pull some teeth to get some ebay sellers to reply to questions, I have discovered that the Fire Cat is featured in the 1977 & 1978 JC Penney Christmas Wish Book catalogs. No evidence of the mysterious Black Cat/King Kat version in there. I have purchased these two catalogs and will post scans of the pages when the books arrive. Bike might also be in the 1979 JCP Wish Book, am waiting to hear back from the seller.

Wholy Cat's! just found the fourm. I got a Red sears chopper for chrimmas back in 77 I think. It's in my living room in my bike museum. It never had the faux tank but it had the fender. Fender has long ago been lost. I usually ride it in the art car parade every year. I still have the owner's/set up manual too. After I get some time to sniff around here a bit more I'll be lookin for some partz too.

...but who assembled the Fire Cat in the first picture????? The seat is higher than the handlebars, the chain is loose, the wheel reflectors are all over the place and the lower front reflector is missing!!!!!
PS...Love the Huffy Bandit in the second pic...My friend had one of those as a kid. Man that's one ugly bike! |

UPDATE on Murray Fire Cat & King Kat reproduction stickers.
I stopped by the sticker guy's shop this morning. He will be working on the large and small flame stickers first, then the 1977 & 1978 Murray head badges. I will also get to work on some drawings of the King Kat frame stickers, so he can do those too. Stickers of the chainguard graphics for the Fire Cat variations, King Kat and Free Spirit will be in the works at some point also. A full set of graphics for the Sears Free Spirit chopper will probably happen too. So, anyone looking to restore thier choppers - now you will be able to. Feel free to strip that frame and repaint, your new stickers are on the way. I will be listing one of my choppers and some chopper parts to help finance these projects, so look for those in the For Sale section soon. |

That one looks super clean, Leo! Could you also give me the dates on the sticker by the kickstand (xx-77) and the silver sticker on the seat pan (xx-xx-77) too? That would be great.
I see that the larger flame decal is missing on the front of the frame, is there any evidence that is was ever there? That would be odd if it never was on there. You know, I'm expecting the repro Fire Cat flame decals to be done within the next week. I will post pics when I get the final proofs. I saw the samples last Saturday and they looked great. Wish I had the money, I would consider taking this one off your hands. |

King Kat stickers almost ready! | ||
|
Here are the first samples, they look great. Frame stickers are printed on clear. I will try to paint one of my extra frames black then apply these stickers to get a better idea how they look mounted, but they should be just fine.
Chainguard sticker is awesome. I will probably include a full size pattern so that the black area can be painted first then you apply this sticker to the guard. Included pics of my King Kat and an original ad for comparison of the repros to the original graphics. Prices still T.B.D., will follow up with that info. |
